Why TV internship can be bitterly/overly SWEET: FIRST WEEK

July 23 – August 1, 2010

JULY 23 - FIRST DAY

The day I was so damn excited about. Finally, I will start my TV internship at the Entertainment TV Department of GMA 7. I met Ma’am Grace and Ma’am Moksha (my coordinator), I was assigned to THREE SHOWS: Hole in the Wall, Mel & Joey, and Bubble Gang. There was no taping for Mel & Joey that day that’s why I was sent to the New Bldg. to meet Ma'am Elai of Party Pilipinas. [She was super nice! Or rather everyone was really really nice and friendly. BILIB NA BILIB sila sa mga taga-UP. Alam naaaaaaa! HAHA. :D]

There I was tasked to organize the 700 TICKETS for Party Pilipinas.

Then Roan and Glenn visited me.

I ate lunch ALONE at 3pm then went back on the cubicle, I encoded some accounting stuff [ANDAMING NUMBERS! Nalula ako! =))] and answered some calls [OO, biglang naging SECRETARY ako.] And since I was alone in the cubicle, I got bored and took some shots of RANDOM THINGS. HAHAHA.

May I just say BONGGANG NAHILO talaga ako! [11 TIMES na nagpalipat-lipat ng buildings at gumamit ng elevator! KALOKA. STRESS! :D] ERRAND GURL ftw! Plus, 9 hours down, I love it! :D

JULY 26 - SECOND DAY

Today, Ma'am Grace was coming in late. I and Pam just waited for her on the Entertainment TV lounge. When she arrived, she asked us to have lunch first. I had lunch with Pam, Duncel and Emma. After lunch, I was informed that Bubble Gang taping was postponed and they were having a meeting so instead I was sent to Tweetbiz' taping at Studio 1. But since there were already a couple of interns for that show, Pam and I were re-assigned to QTV’s My Favorite Recipes.

Production proper

I was able to watch 6 taping episodes with Chef lovebirds China Cojuangco and Gino Gonzales along with their guests: Freestyle; celebs Jeffrey Santos and Ian Veneracion [OMG. How can Papa Ian V. be sooooo HOT and good-lookin’? And to think I was ONLY 2 meters away from him!!! Grabe lang ang SMILE niya. NAKAKAHUMALING! =))]

Sobrang na-high at first time ever sumakit ang ulo ko dahil sa amoy ng pentel pen [Grabe lang ang idiot boards for 9 scripts, right? :p]

But worth it ang stress! BONGGANG FREE SCRUMPTIOUS FOOD (yez, snacks with dinner)! And another 10 hours down, what more can we ask for? :D

JULY 28 - THIRD DAY

I think this is the most petix day of my internship so far. Since, I usually go to GMA as early as 9am (and believe me, I am waaaaaay too early for this) but taping schedules are normally done in the afternoon. So basically, I’m kinda free (except of course if I need to do some errand works NOT taping-related). So as usual, I just waited for Ma’am Grace in the Entertainment TV lounge. When she arrived, she asked me to go with Sir Mac for Hole in the Wall taping at Studio 7 and in there I met Ma’am Jefflyn. Taping will resume after lunch, so I had TENGGA moments at the make-up room (aka dressing room) and just watched Honey, my love so sweet. [WEIRD. Natuwa ako sa movie. :|] Then, I had lunch with Glenn and Emma and I also saw Icee and met Karla (new acquaintance).

After lunch, I went back at the make-up room followed by Pam. Pam and I were tasked to look out for the Wednesday contestants who are being debriefed at the Green Room.

Live Audience

I got a picture with Onyok Velasco. [Sayang siya lang lumabas nung briefing nila. :P]

And since taping is about to start and everyone is in a hurry, I just saw these celebs walked by: Regine Tolentino [She looks so young and hot. Kthanksbye.] with husband Lander Vera-Perez, Nonito Donaire with his wife and Adrian Rosales [The HOT guy who played as attorney of Bella Aldama aka Marian Rivera in MariMar. Wheeew!]

For the rest of the day, I JUST watched Hole in the Wall taping along with its hosts Ogie Alcasid (with his sando and board shorts) and all-time-fave Michael V as matandang ermitanyo.

Again, 5 hours down! :D

JULY 29 - FOURTH DAY

I actually don’t have a schedule for internship during Thursdays and even Tuesdays, however Ma'am Elai asked a favor from me to go and bring along a group of friends as LIVE AUDIENCE for GMA7's new talk show Love ni Mister, Love ni Misis with hosts Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi. Guests include Nadia Montenegro with daughter Ynna Asistio; Tirso Cruz III with son Bodie Cruz; and Maritoni Fernandez with daughter Lexi Fernandez.

I went with Roan, Fchel, Dyan and Lynel. And it really came as a SHOCK for all of us when we learned that we were going to be part of the PARTICIPANT AUDIENCE. Originally, we were asked to play as KIKAY GROUP. Then Fchel and I were then placed to the GIRLS’ DABARKADS GROUP, wherein we were debriefed to create a story out of the 5 pictures they’ll be giving. [NASURPRISE KAMI! KALOKAAAA! OA LANG ANG TV EXPOSURE! Achib? HAHA. :P :))] And of course, WE WON THE STORYTELLING CONTEST! [Congrats to me and my teammates Fchel and Ana, we have goodies from Charcoal plus a friendship bracelet! HAHA.]

And as soon as the show was about to end, we were instructed that we’re allowed to take pictures with the hosts afterwards. Good thing, I didn’t surrender my digital camera, though we were not allowed as we entered the studio. GO INSTINCTS! [Or being pasaway? HAHA.]

Yay to another 4 hours! :D

JULY 30 - FIFTH DAY

I was sent to Studio 5 for the taping of Mel & Joey. I met Sir Louie, my coordinator for that show. I helped Ate JM with Mel Tiangco’s script.

SETS for Mel & Joey

I watched the taping per segment. There was a debate on whether “Nakakabawas ba ng pagkalalaki kung ang asawa ang nagtatrabaho?”, guests include Benjie Paras with unknown model versus Berwin Meiley with unknown Chinoy. [YES for the former, NO for the latter.] Then after which, had lunch with Roan, Pam and Cherry (a new friend who happens to be an intern as well from Lyceum).

After lunch, taping was resumed. There was an interview of Mel Tiangco with a self-confessed mangkukulam as well as with an anthropology professor from UP.

Then, there was a change of set for another interview regarding Juvenile Diabetes.

Then, another set was arranged. The first part was for Joey de Leon’s segment “Syete-syete”, wherein he will present the 7 most cheesy pick-up lines as well as the most frustrating ones. [Ang corny, k? Pero benta naman. :))]

Soon after, there was another debate on whether “Kung hindi kayo mabigyan ng asawa niyo ng anak, hihiwalayan niyo ba siya?”, guests include Ruby Rodriguez with Angelica dela Cruz versus KC Montero with Joross Gamboa. [NO for girls, YES for boys.]

As soon as the taping ends, I was able to get a picture with Tess Bomb.

Plus, 10 hours down! :D

  1. I stumbled upon your blog while searching for Agatha Tapan (she guested in Be Careful With My Heart a few days ago). Then I checked your archives and saw more posts about your internship. I'm planning to intern kasi this summer at GMA7. Hopefully I get in!
