My 2nd Week at DZUP
The 2nd batch of DZUP interns from the new curriculum suffered from dilemma of having advisers. First, we were divided accordingly to our time of availability and assigned us to programs that suit our convenience. Then the schedule was scrapped. We were again divided unequally to report to Ma’am Mel Estonilo or Ma’am Jo Santos. They will assign us to coordinate with the different colleges in UP Diliman for the upcoming programs in DZUP this September. I consulted Ma’am Mel Estonilo about the tasks but she didn’t accept me because my time of availability doesn’t fall on Wednesday lunch but Sir Edge told me that it’s a pre-production work so it would still be ok if I work at my free time. Without much dwelling on this issue, in the end, Sir Edge became my adviser! (This made me happier)
August 5, 2010 (Thursday)
I went to DZUP station. Sir Edge asked me to contact AGHAM Party List Member Dr. Tapang to ask his opinion regarding the 2 Filipino physicists who were awarded the Magsaysay Awards (as prestigious as Nobel Prize Awards). It was the topic on May Punto Ka Dyan on that day!
It was also my first time to enter the board room as an intern. Sir Edge told me to observe the Technical Director. Take note: the console is NEW! I hope one of this days, I can also operate it! I also assisted Tin, Sir Edge’s co-host, in their live phone patch with one of the physicists. I saw how they troubleshoot when technical problems aroused. They were used to it. They’re good! As I observe them, I realized that I know far lesser than them when it comes to that aspect. They have the edge because they hands-on and go on-air. I’m just a learning OBSERVER. Unfair.
