My First Day at Weber Shandwick

Jean, Kara and I on the first day of our internship at Weber Shandwick last July 16.

Weber Shandwick is one of the world’s leading global public relations firms with offices in major media, business and government capitals around the world.” Their branch here in Manila has just been recently established. Honestly, I took a leap in applying for Weber Shandwick for my internship because I really had no idea what being in a Public Relations firm was going to entail. But during my first day, I already discovered a lot of things - through studying press releases, articles, and updates about Weber Shandwick’s clients. It was then I discovered that articles in newspapers were measured by centimeters and each centimeter cost a whole lot more than what it may seem. PR didn’t simply mean to build an image for high-profile people, an organization or a company. It meant making sure this public image was maintained at its utmost desirable quality, with the notion that the media industry can be one helluva cutthroat competition.
