TV internship (7th Week)

Compared to the previous weeks in which I almost reach 30 hours per week in the office, for this week I only had 9 hours of internship hours. Although internship is really fun, I needed to give time to my other subjects especially my thesis haha! Well for this week it was the first time that I had a say or decided on the content of the episode. The episode was about the water shortage we are experiencing today here in the Philippines. It was really fun having been given the task to edit Ms. Karen Davila's written script although of course my boss was assisting me at the side and was approving the choices that I was making. We were editing the script in their non linear editing room where the Associate Producer was also editing the first gaps of the episode at the other editing booth. Ms. KD does not put time codes in her scripts so I had a hard time editing it for I needed to find the clips that she chose. I had to find it in almost all the videos that they shoot. But it was okay it really felt great that I was being trusted to do this job. :)

Aside from that I was also tasked to distribute the drinks to the staff of 'The Correspondents' which were given by their advertisers. And the because there are just too many drinks they gave me the extras. :) Then I was also tasked to transcribe tapes for the episode about sex education. I transcribed an interview of Ms. Sol Aragones with a girl who had a baby at a very young age. It was really disheartening to hear her story but I also saw some ethical violations of ABS-CBN with regard to interviewing minors about their traumatic experiences. I just wonder what KBP is doing about this.

I was also tasked to get a contact number of a former Philippine Air Force Chief at ABS-CBN's news desk. Before getting it one of my bosses warned me that people at the news desk are not that pleasant so I asked the contact number very politely, then the guy at the news desk asked me who I am?, am I a new employee? Then I told him that I am an intern and he asked me who asked me to go to the news desk and I told him a researcher from 'The Correspondents' and then he ended up asking me the name of the researcher and told me to tell my boss that I should not be asked to do these things because these are the job of the researchers and the network does not pay me so my bosses have no right to pass their responsibilities to me.

Well I was really shocked because he really sounded angry and serious. The work in the news desk looks really pressuring haha! his phone was continuously ringing and he was talking to a lot of people while helping me find the number I was asking for. After the long sermon from the guy, I was not successful in getting the number because he told me that they no longer have his records because he already left his office. So I told my boss what he told me and I wonder why my boss never asked me to get a number from the news desk again. lol
