On Monday, I interviewed former Ateneo Blue Eagle Jurgen Estanislao because I was assigned to write a feature on him for E-Frequency, ABS-CBN's online newsletter. I used to be a Blue Eagles fan in high school (I had a huge crush on Larry Fonacier) so I was really excited when Sir Jan first assigned me the story. He told me I'd be doing a story on a former Blue Eagle who now works for ABS-CBN Interactive, but he didn't tell me the name of the player. I thought it'd be someone I know, but I was wrong. Jurgen Estanislao was from batch 2007. I stopped being a hardcore Blue Eagles fan in 2004, so I had no idea who he was. FAIL.
I presented the first draft of my feature on Jurgen Estanislao to Sir Jan first thing Friday morning. He made me do a lot of revisions until I reached the fourth draft. It was only after I showed him my fourth draft that he submitted my article to Sir Kane. Sir Jan was so confusing. After I gave him my frist draft, he told me to change the lead and make the story more about Jurgen Estanislao being an ABS-CBN employee, not being about an injured basketball player. So in my second draft, I completely changed the lead, edited out some of the parts about Jurgen being injured and added more sentences about his current work in ABS-CBN Interactive. But when I showed Sir Jan my second draft, he told me to just revert back to what I did in the first draft. He’s so fickle-minded! He made me spend the entire day revising my article. It sucked to be stuck in front of the desktop the whole day.
