The President and CEO of Weber Shandwick Manila, Atty. Mike Toledo asked Jean, Kara and I to dine with him and Mr. Luigi Avancena, the Director for Operations, at Barcino in Greenbelt last July 30.
Apart from Sir Toledo's good looks, can I just say his suavity swept me away when he shook my hand as he introduced himself to the three of us? Haha! And what surprised me more was that he took time and effort to get to know us when he asked us go inside his office and interviewed us for a little bit. He emphasized that he wanted us to learn the most that we can in Weber Shandwick and that it would help if we participated at all the upcoming events. Then he treated us to dinner to formally welcome us to the company. Dinnertime became much more exciting when we all talked about life in school as he talked about his time in UP back then, hobbies, interests and random whatnots. It was all fun, casual and with a whole lot of laughter that we did not even feel that three hours had already passed. It ended with good vibes and a realization that PR is not just all business, it's also personal - where building relationships is the most important part of it.
