Week 2

The first couple of shows for Sabi Ko Sabi Niya and Trivia 10 that I got to assist for were pre-recorded, and there wasn't much to do except insert some updated plugs here and there, do time check, and do the traffic log. That's why I was really excited to witness the first live shows for the respective programs. I think the excitement was contagious, from the EPs to their hosts, and it filled the small studios with a very encouraging vibe. My first live program was with J-Anne as EP for SKSN, and I got to assist her as TD and also with a little bit of directing as the show went along. I got to listen to Sheik and Roe as the afternoon kachikas, and their chemistry makes for very easy listening. I enjoyed eavesdropping to their conversations, and once in a while, you pick up a few new things from their program as well. The live programs became something that I started to look forward to, especially because it comes right after KKK. It's truly a boost of energy in the afternoon.

Another highlight for me this week is something a little bit more personal. I came in an hour early for KKK one day, and asked Angel if I could assist for Rakenrol. She happily obliged and let me do the traffic log and time check for her. As we were going through her playlist, I was surprised to see 'Tonight We Sleep' as one of her songs. I asked her if it was possibly Tonight We Sleep by the band Tonight We Sleep (yes you read it right, the single has the same name as the band), and she said she didn't know because it was a playlist that was carried over from last summer's interns. When the song finally played, it was the song I expected! I was proud to hear it on DZUP because the band, especially their management, are friends of mine. Some of their songs have already aired on NU107 but I still got (for lack of a better word) kilig to hear them on air on our station. Plus! Angel was nice enough to plug the band's guitarist for the MYX VJ Hunt, which he's currently part of.

It gave me the idea that there are so many talented young bands that have yet to be discovered, and we can give them the chance to get on the airwaves and share their music with our listeners. Time to check your phonebook, anyone?
