I'm in the Right Place :)
This week I finally started with my internship in Living Asia. The place and the people were not what I expected! Whenever I thought of broadcast network offices I imagined people always moving, looking very stressed and pressured, wearing corporate clothes and all- I imagined the boss to be very, well... bossy. haha! But when I got there, everyone was so welcoming and warm. They looked very relaxed and the best thing (for me) is that they weren't in corporate clothes at all! :D
The office is quite small, with cubicles dividing the work places. I accompanied one of the videographers/directors while he was making a shot list of his videos of Macau. It was fun to watch a raw travel video because you get a sneak peek of how they do it. I also saw how much fun they were having while they were in Macau. He told me stories of his travels and gave me tips on how to video on location. He also shared a little about his background. He graduated from UP College of Fine Arts, major in Viscomm. I asked him why he's not into advertising since most of the Viscomm majors I know usually end there; and he gave me the best and most refreshing answer: "I have nothing against advertising. It's just that, personally, I feel that I can create more in travel videography". I was really touched by his answer! I've always had reluctance with capitalism, and labor without heart (although sometimes it's not really their fault). It was just really nice to hear someone say that he's where he is now because that's where he can create more, and that's where he really wanted to be. And that's when I realized I'm in the right place- traveling, happy shiny people, passion instead of labor. I wish I get to say what he said when I'm already working as well :)
p.s. this was supposed to be my 1st blog (July 22, 2010), kaso hindi pala siya napublish sa internship is love :| ang hirap mag blogger ah?! haha!
