Am I born to be wild?
MY WEEK 1 at GMA 7

I was assigned to News and Public Affairs Department of GMA Network. I will be trained in two programs. First is Born to be Wild and the second one, still to be announced. But my first day seems more of a challenge than training. The Executive Producer asked me to submit 15 story proposals after two days. It has been hard because I haven’t watched any of their episodes and take note, it was ‘black-out’ last Wednesday and the only day I had access to the internet was the night before the submission. And so there I was, sleepless yet has an output. I was able to submit it on time but I know I can do more if the resources conspired. But my stories were scrapped. The EP told me that my proposals are vague and some are inappropriate to be featured in their program. The rest, I don’t know but I will revise it again though not told. That’s the only thing that disheartened me a little this week but my other experiences were worth the completion of their TOO MANY application requirements.

Here are the other things I did:

Sir Andrew was supposed to bring me secretly in the Editing Room for me to see, but the guard noticed me. They ban student trainees for equipments’ safety purposes. So we went to the Newsroom instead, where there are some other basic editing and recording rooms. I assisted him on dummy dubbing. I recorded it and labeled his script. He also asked me to list down the tape numbers to ensure that all the sequences were already shot.

Sir Geoff gave me tips on online research, taught me the process of hunting case studies and oriented me to the different positions and roles of their production team.
I and my co-interns in the department assisted Sir TJ in preparing the medical kits to be distributed to each department. Well, it’s like taking Crisis in Broadcasting Course (haha).

My first week was tiring yet fulfilling. I look forward to learning more and one of it is learning to love something I seem not to like at first.
