MAJOR MAJOR INTERNSHIP WEEK.

TASKS:
-Find TARA and BEKI (the EHDs)
-Remove the video clips from one episode folder to another
-Find whoever-Miss Abi-is and give her the tapes for dubbing
-Look for a Lock&Lock bottle probably left at the editing room
-Find whoever-Justine-is (at Edit 29 or wherever I can find him) and give him the tapes for dubbing
-Go back to the editing room when another staff realized that she's made a mistake of telling me that Justine was at Edit 29 when in fact he was at Edit 30. :|
-Return the ID borrowed by our CP at the reception area
-Withdraw money for our CP
-Check the progress of the tapes being ingested
-Transcription and shot listing of the assigned video clips


My plan of staying at the office for just four hours extended to six. I was, again, the only person left at the office that time. Hayyy.

It’s a Saturday! I took the opportunity to go to the office even if it’s weekend because of my aim to finish the internship this week.
I was the only person who went to the office for this day. I continued doing the transcription and shotlisting of the video clips assigned to me so I could send them to our SP/WRITER and EP as soon as possible. It was just a lonely day with no people around to talk to and eat with. But even if I was so alone at the office that day... on my way to the wash room, I saw Sam Milby face to face. HAHAHA! So WORTH THE BOREDOM AND LONELINESS. AHIHI.:D




(This is what you do when you're BORED AND ALONE at the office. HAHAHAHA!) :P


And Hola!
I AM ALREADY DONE WITH MY INTERNSHIP. Thank God! :)


As they say, “No matter how bitter a coffee gets, one bite of a sweet cookie changes everything.”


Even if I’ve experienced bitter things during my internship, I do not regret anything because all those annoying experiences challenged me to become better and taught me a lot of lessons which made me stronger and wiser. Not only did I get a glimpse of the real media world, I have also witnessed and experienced by myself what it is and how it is to be a media practitioner.


NO FIXED SCHEDULE OF WORK.
TAKE HOME TASKS.
NO SLEEP.
DEADLINES.

SOMETIMES YOU GET MAD.
SOMETIMES, YOU GET PISSED OFF WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU.

SOMETIMES YOU GET WONDERFUL RESULTS.

BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY..

WHEN YOU LOOK BACK..

IT’S ALL ABOUT TEAMWORK.

The Missing Keratin-Inspired Head and Shoulders





TAPING DAY.

This week, I was the ALL-AROUND ERRAND GIRL during the studio shoot at Lifestyle Network. Miss Cheska, our PA asked me to check the reservation slip for the shoot. The shoot was supposed to be at 7:30 in the evening. But as the clock hit 6:30 PM, they didn’t have the materials for the shoot yet. So I was asked to run (literally) and find a Downy Fabcon, a deep-hydrating Pantene hair treatment and the KERATIN-INSPIRED HEAD AND SHOULDERS SHAMPOO FOR MEN.
First, I went to Mini-stop and 7-eleven near ABS-CBN. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the materials needed for the shoot.

MY NEXT STOP: HI-TOP.
I bugged the staff there asking them if they have the materials in my list. DOWNY FABCON was the only material I was able to buy there.

NEXT STOP: MERCURY DRUG.
RESULT: NONE OF THE ABOVE.

NEXT AND FINAL STOP: HYPERMARKET IN QUEZON AVE.
RESULT: NO DEEP HYDRATING PANTENE HAIR TREATMENT AND A KERATIN-INSPIRED HEAD AND SHOULDERS.


Miss Cha, our EP and Miss Jil, the SP for that shoot called a lot of times telling me to find the two materials needed for the shoot. I saw a Pantene TOTAL HAIR TREATMENT that says in its label “Solve the 7-signs of dry damaged hair.” I told it to them but they said that I had to find the one with the front label Deep Hydrating Treatment. With regard to the Keratin-inspired Head and Shoulders, there was NONE. The bagger told me that maybe it’s OUT OF STOCK. The only Head and Shoulders shampoo available was the one with the label HEAD AND SHOULDERS HAIR RETAIN FOR MEN.

THE ENDING?
I BOUGHT THE HEAD AND SHOULDERS HAIR RETAIN SHAMPOO FOR MEN.


When I arrived at the office, the EP was laughing really hard and told me to blame Manny Pacquiao. Because what they understood from Manny Pacquiao’s Head and Shoulders commercial was WITH KERATIN when in fact, what he really MEANT to say was HAIR RETAIN. I t just sounded WITH KERATIN since he’s a Visayan accent. Our EP also said that she thought that there’s such a chemical thingy called KERATIN.

Back to the Deep Hydrating Treatment Pantene Hair Treatment, the PM asked me to search about it on web.

This description doesn’t just appear on the bottle itself. So what I saw when I was looking for it was the right one but since they haven’t researched for the products they will use for the shoot, these “I-DO-NOT-KNOW” syndrome that night brought about a lot of hassle for the whole crew of the shoot.


After coming back from the TREASURE HUNT, the SP for another bathroom shoot asked me to find other bathroom stuff we could use to decorate the bathroom- i.e. flower vases, a tissue box, etc.etc.etc. Afterwards, I was tasked to accompany our PA to her condo unit to have the white shirts for the shoot be ironed. NEXT TASK: Go back to ELJ BLDG. carefully and modestly holding the ironed shirts not to be wrinkled or be stained by any dirt. Yayayayayayayayayayay.

Lastly, Miss Cha, our PA told me to buy two tubs of yogurt for US but changed her mind after realizing that it will cost her more than three hundred pesos. Instead she asked me to buy sundaes for US. Unfortunately, Mcdonald’s was already closed at that time. So I had to go back to our office and was told again to buy a tub of yogurt instead. Miss Cheska, our PA told me to go home since it’s already late and she already went home. (tinalo ko pang ibang staff sa late ng pag-uwi.)


WHOOOO. WHAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAADDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!

MULTI-TASKING (11th Week)

September 16-17, 2010-10


For this week, the usual task was given to us- converting the tapes of the previous shoot of Fash.

I was also tasked to ingest video tapes including the baby shower of Judy Ann Santos.





But not only that, while ingesting the tapes, Miss Cheska, our PA called every now and then for other tasks. Another intern and I were also tasked to bring the tapes to be dubbed at the Dubbing Room. But since the room has no available dubbing machine for almost two hours,we had to go back every now and then to check the dubbing room, the ingesting of tapes, and the conversion of Beauty Affair and Blackbook videoclips. Multi-tasking huh. :D

After all the tasks for the day at the office, we copied the converted video clips of BA and BB to be transcribed and shot listed at home. The job doesn’t stop when we leave the office. :D

Oh, before I forgot, there was one time when I and another intern were tasked to lift six boxes of wine from another cubicle (which is three to four cubicles away)and place these to our cubicle. We had to lift these boxes using our bare hands while the PM jokingly said “walang sisihan kapag bumagsak mga matris nyo.” Funny huh.

                It has been a good day because I was able to join another outside shoot of the THE BEAT. They feature the newly launched soup maker of the Cuisinart in Pasig. Ms. Elizabeth Tan, the brand manager, is very accommodating. Since Ms. Monica, the host is not available in the shoot, Ms. Tan is the one who demonstrated how to operate the soup maker. We were able to taste her cook with coffee, as their shop also sells coffee makers and other hardwares and appliances. We also had dinner in her restaurant besides the shop for free. That’s one privilege of being part of the THE BEAT and this benefit is, of course, accompanied by conditions which slowly unfold to me as I go on with my internship.

                My work for today is more on research. The THE BEAT  has chosen stories for October and November so the team is now working on possible stories for December. That’s what they call “banking” so they can have a break or short vacation during the holidays. Sir Batoy, a researcher, asked my help to research and contact different amusement parks or places in the metro and their newly offered games/gimmicks/rides for the Christmas season. I see the development in me. I became more relax, confident and composed asking different people. The task, as I become used to it, becomes easier. I was able to contact Enchanted Kingdom, Star City and Worlds of Fun.

1^st week

Day 1- July 26

It wasn’t supposed to be my first day in Channel V since I decided this day to be a rest day since I’ve just went home from Catanduanes last night. But Bryan told me that the production team needed me today because he and our boss will be leaving, and nobody will be in-charge of the production but me. And so I grudgingly agreed, decided to come back home cause I felt the need to change my clothes, and then we went off. When we came, Bryan introduced me to everyone. And true enough, first instincts are always right. A little later, our HR asked me if I knew how to do make-up. I said yes, and then she said, “Okay, you do Ely Buendia’s make-up.” And I was in awe.

It took me a little while when I blinked again, and the HR was already giving me budget to buy Ely’s make-up. It turned out that the make-up artist did not arrive, and Ely will be coming in no time. And so, everything had to be urgent.

When Ely came, he seemed a bit stoned since his words were quite garbled, his eyes were droopy, and he was a bit uncoordinated. At first, I had qualms about doing my job as a “make-up artist” since what if he doesn’t even want me to touch him, you know, that artista syndrome. But since I was already there and there’s nothing I can do to run away, I played my role.

When I first touched his face, I felt some kind of chill since I realized I was currently touching the face of a music legend. But when I saw his dandruff (haha), I realized he was still human after all.

After I was done with his make-up, I coordinated with him for his video choices for Channel V’s program VIP (Very Important Pinoy), which we will be shooting. At the studio, everything was already set-up. From the green wall, ID, prompter, boom mic, and appropriate lights which we do not have in our CMC TV studio. Their equipment seemed all state-of-the-art which enabled the fast shooting of five episodes, and it only required three people—the director, the cameraman, and the prompter operator. The job of the director was so easy that what we were doing in our TV productions were even harder; since we had to deal with more than one camera, and our equipment are so out-of-date that technical glitches are always expected.

The shoot did not last an hour. Then when Ely was about to leave, he mistook someone else’s car for his own. Good thing the car did not have an alarm since he was really forcing the car to open. 

And then after everything was over, I realized that boy, oh boy, it is my lucky day. J

3rd Week @ Lifestyle Network: Convert, Transcribe, and Shoot!

Day 1:

Well, we just converted all the videos today that we were supposed to shot list and transcribe for the editors. :)

Day 2:

The highlight: I highlighted all the VO lines of Bianca, host of FASH, for her voice over.

Day 3:

TASK 1:

It was shooting day. First half was done at ABS-CBN. I arrived at 6 in the morning and I was asked to pick up Borj, the hairstylist, at Mandaluyong and of course, they let me use the company's van with Kuya Milo as my driver for that day. By 7:30, we were back at the studio with Borj.

TASK 2:

Ms. Cheska, our PA, then asked me to buy water and ice for the staff. So I called Kuya Milo again to drive me and I was also assisted by 2 janitors. They were all very helpful. :)

TASK 3:

After delivering the water and ice, Ms Cheska and Ms Jill, one of our segment producers asked me to buy some flowers at that are usually used for making perfumes. They told me to go to Cubao. Wow! Things are getting more challenging by the minute.

So again, Kuya Milo and me drove off. I was able to buy roses, but all the other flowers like the pink lilies and lavenders were not available there. So we went to Market Market since they also asked me to buy some food coloring and potpourri. I was really pressured at that time since I know that these materials were needed after lunch. I wasn’t able to buy the powdered food colouring since they wanted the ones with the McCormick brand and they weren't available at the Supermarket. However, I was able to buy a pink lily and after several minutes of wandering around the Market Market, I was able to find the potpourri with the help of my mom. At last! I realized that it always pays to ask for help from others. J

TASK 4:

After that, Ms. Jill called me and told me that we had to meet with someone who was supposed to give me the perfumes needed for the shoot. She also told me that I had to wait for the text of that certain person. I met her at her condo at the Global City (I forgot the name) and she gave the 2 paper bags filled with perfumes, expensive perfumes. Then, we went back to ABS and I gave all the materials to Ms. Jill. I’m glad that they were also glad with the things that I had bought. LOGISTICS :P

After eating lunch, I told them that I needed to go home to work with my thesis. Another co-intern arrived to help them with the afternoon shooting at Manila Hotel.
